A materials platform built for circular production

Thermoplastic biomaterial from food side streams

PeelPack develops thermoplastic biomaterials designed to replace fossil-based plastics in industrial applications.
Derived from food side streams, these materials are engineered to run on existing processing lines and deliver reliable performance under real-world conditions.

From underutilized resources to functional materials

Food side streams and fossil-based plastics coexist within today’s industrial system, yet remain largely disconnected in value.
This approach creates a link between feedstock sourcing, industrial production, and end-of-life pathways—forming the basis of a circular material system.

PeelPack addresses this by converting underutilized biomass into functional thermoplastic materials.

A consistent and scalable feedstock

Potato processing generates large volumes of side streams across Europe.
These streams are abundant, geographically concentrated, and currently underutilized.
Their composition enables controlled processing and integration into thermoplastic systems, supporting consistent material production at industrial scale.

A changing material landscape

Material selection is increasingly shaped by regulation and cost structures. Frameworks such as PPWR, plastic taxes, and EPR are driving a shift away from fossil-based plastics.
At the same time, organic waste collection and treatment systems are expanding, creating viable end-of-life pathways for alternative materials.
Together, these developments support the emergence of materials designed for circular production.

Materials science, built for industry

PeelPack combines materials science with industrial development.
Founded by a materials scientist trained at ETH Zürich, the company is built around processability, scalability, and real-world application.
